Dance Descriptions

American Ballroom Tango uses a dance hold and body position similar to what is used for Waltz and Foxtrot. It borrows the playful foot patterns of walks, rocks and flares seen in the Argentine Tango. It is danced to a strong rhythmic beat.

Cha Cha is a rhythmical Latin dance which originated in the 1940's as a modified form of Mambo. It's fun, energetic, sexy and flirtatious, easily distinguished from other dances by its addictive "Step, Step, Cha Cha Cha" rhythm.

Dancercize is exercising using dance routines. This is a fun way to get fit. Dancercize can be low-impact or high-impact. The dances are adapted to your level of fitness and skill.

East Coast Swing is a fun and easy to learn, six count dance, that is related to the Lindy, but less aerobic.  This dance is fun with a variety of music from rock-n-roll, oldies, country and whatever music that makes you want to dance!

Foxtrot is the ballroom form of two step that is a smooth progressive dance characterized by graceful, flowing movements across the dance floor. Foxtrot is extremely versatile and can be danced to a variety of music and tempo’s.

Hustle is the perfect dance for dance-beat, nightclub music. It’s easy to learn and can be danced everywhere: ballrooms, nightclubs, Latin clubs, parties and wedding receptions.

The Hustle is characterized by fast moving patterns with many turns. Like West Coast Swing, the Hustle tends to spotlight the lady and is a smooth dance. While Hustle tends to be associated with retro disco music, it can also be danced to modern music.

Line Dance is a fun form of low-impact aerobics, a great way to exercise.  Modern line dance is done to a variety of music.  Join us to learn such dances as the Electric Slide, Tush Push, Ten Step, Cotton Eye Joe, Watermelon Crawl, Boot Scootin' Boogie and other fun dances.

Rumba A dance of Cuban origin, combining fun footwork with a pronounced movement of the hips. The Rumba borrows footwork from the Waltz & Foxtrot, using a ‘box’ to execute a variety of fun patterns.

Salsa is a Spanish word, which literally translated means "sauce". Spicy, hot and full of exotic Latin flavor, the Salsa dance is true to its name. Salsa is a dance that has its origins in Cuba and Puerto Rico. Salsa makes use of arm-hooks, turns and overhead hooks. Dancers dance in a slot and do many flowing continuous circular turns. The basic footwork is a fairly simple walking motion (pausing every fourth beat) and is a playful dance that is not difficult to master. The Salsa music, the movement and the experience of Salsa is exploding around the world.

Samba embodies the spirit of Brazil, you could say, with its lively music. There are many styles of Samba dance and Ballroom Samba borrows the foot work of the different styles. Danced with a rhythmic bouncing action it is a fun, playful dance.

Two Step is the most popular dance in the country western world. Learn to quick, quick your way around the dance floor, learning how to maneuver on the floor without collisions, rotating your partner, inside and outside turns, the wrap/cuddle, windows and other fun stuff!

Waltz is a smooth progressive dance characterized by long, flowing movement, continuous turns and rise & fall. Graceful and elegant, Waltz dancers glide around the floor almost effortlessly.

West Coast Swing is a cousin to the 6 count swings. This is the most versatile dance you will ever learn!  Dance to a variety of music from R&B, oldies, top 40 and country. WCS is the most popular dance in the world and the most fun.  It is one of the few dances that reflects the social attitudes of the day: Although HE is the lead and sets the tone of the dance, SHE has the freedom to interpret the music and use syncopations in patterns that he might not even know (or care to know).
